About Chris
I was born and raised in Idaho and have spent my whole life exploring the rugged sagebrush hills of the Idaho high desert and the beautiful Big Wood River Valley and Stanley Basin.
As a child I always preferred to be outdoors and was allowed to live a “free-range” childhood in the summertime. I went out in the morning and spent my days hiking in the desert, swimming in the river, and exploring with my friends.
I moved to Boise a few years ago and was introduced to oil painting by a friend. I began studying with local artist Fred Choate in the spring of 2011 and continue to work to increase my knowledge and ability.
I still love the outdoors and have added southern Utah and Arizona to my list of favorite places. Oil painting provides a way to re-live and share the wonder of nature and the beauty of the places I visit. I feel a real need to make up for lost time and I try to paint a little bit every day.
